Our mission is to catalyze expansive uses of open-source, NGSS-aligned science curriculum materials in ways that allow students to take ownership of their own learning.

Our Commitments

To teachers

Teachers are the experts in our field. We arrive to work with teachers in a learner stance. Teachers work at the nexus of multiple competing demands. We strive to understand and empower teachers to make instructional decisions that elevate the dignity of their work and their students’ learning.

To students

Students are expert sensemakers. Everything that students say and do is meaningful and appropriate to them given their contexts and histories. We interpret student ideas with an asset-based framework and avoid highlighting students’ “lack” of ideas.

To our team

We share data in line with IRB and institutional guidelines and support each other in accessing what is needed. Together, we foster a warm and inclusive environment.

To justice

We acknowledge that we work in a field and carry personal histories that have oppressive histories. We help each other learn about these histories and avoid replicating problematic power dynamics.
